Mission

The primary mission of the Research Group is to conduct in-depth analysis and formulate policy proposals aimed at optimizing the business environment, strengthening regional economics, and advancing inclusive and sustainable development across key dimensions—including poverty alleviation, income distribution, social welfare, gender equity, and environmental stewardship.

Core Objectives

• Private Sector Empowerment: Conducting policy-oriented research to enhance the business climate and empower private sector growth as a driver of inclusive and sustainable economic development.
• Provincial Research Mobilization: Activating and steering provincial research hubs to harness local insights for resolving regional economic challenges, particularly within the mandate of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Finance.

Key Responsibilities & Capabilities

• Private Sector & Innovation Policies: Researching policy frameworks that promote private sector expansion, productive activities, entrepreneurship, and innovation.
• Business Environment & Competitiveness: Analyzing indices related to business climate improvement, national competitiveness, and economic complexity.
• Sustainable Development & Climate Economics: Evaluating economic, social, and environmental components of sustainable development, analyzing climate change mitigation strategies, and studying resource scarcity with an emphasis on water security.
• Regional Economics & Spatial Planning: Conducting research on regional planning, spatial/land-use planning (Amayesh-e Sarzamin), and balanced territorial development focused on poverty reduction in underprivileged regions.
• Development Plan Evaluation: Assessing the performance of Five-Year National Development Plans, specifically focusing on outcomes under the domain of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Finance.
• Composite Indexing & Regional Guidance: Designing specialized composite indicators to track economic planning goals and directing provincial research units to align regional outcomes with national plans.
• International Collaboration: Partnering with international organizations to localize concepts, frameworks, and actionable measures for inclusive and sustainable growth.
